Hey there, Georgia homeowners!

Are you looking to save on your property taxes? Let’s talk about the Homestead Exemption—a fantastic benefit you should be taking advantage of, especially in these expensive times we currently live in!

Understanding the Homestead Exemption in Georgia!

The Homestead Exemption can significantly reduce your property tax bill, so don’t miss out on this opportunity! If you have questions or need assistance, I am here as your helpful #realestate resource.

What is the Homestead Exemption?

The Homestead Exemption is a legal provision that helps reduce the amount of property tax you owe on your primary residence. It’s a way to lower your taxable property value, potentially saving you hundreds of dollars each year!

Who Qualifies?

You must own and occupy the home as your primary residence as of January 1st of the tax year.

You must apply for the exemption through your local county tax office.

When to Apply?

The deadline for applying is typically April 1st of the tax year.

Once approved, the exemption automatically renews each year as long as you continue to meet the eligibility requirements.

Types of Exemptions:

Standard Homestead Exemption: Reduces the assessed value of your home by a set amount.

Senior Exemptions: Additional benefits for homeowners aged 62 and older.

Disabled Veterans Exemption: Benefits for veterans with service-related disabilities.

How + where to Apply?

Gather necessary documents (proof of ownership, identification, etc.).

Visit your county tax assessor’s office or their website.

Complete the application form and submit it before the deadline.
